On a recent painting trip up the McKenzie River I found a lot of inspiration.  In summer the river is serene and amazingly clear.  When I saw the tangle of roots along the bank I realized how the spring floods must flow fast and furious over that  spot and if not for the roots that bit of bank and its shady trees may have gone straight to the sea.
